ResumUP is not just another visual resume creation tool, it's a gorgeous way to plan your career path. The webapp generates a step-by-step roadmap to your dream career, with a list of skills to learn and connections you have who might be able to help you achieve your career goals.
The visual CV or resume ResumUP provides is itself attractive and useful. Besides the infographic resume, ResumUP also generates a text CV based on your LinkedIn profile, Facebook profile, or the information you enter into the webapp.
The new career plan feature is unique. Enter in what your job is now and what you want to be in the future, and the app will show you the career steps in-between. The profiles of the jobs you might need to have before you reach your goal include an overview of the technology and skills you should be familiar with.
In my tests, some of the steps suggested were a bit strange. To go from a writer to an editor, ResumUP suggested I become a physicist in step 4. Perhaps this is because going from writer to features editor requires no steps or additional new skills.
Still, as the video above shows, the app could be really useful?depending on what job titles you put in. The webapp is currently in a private beta testing phase, but the first 2,500 Lifehacker readers to click the link below can try it out now. (All others can still use the visual resume.)
Check it out and tell us if it works for you.
