Plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the future of information ...

It seems like every day there is a new report showing growing pessimism among American workers over the future of employment. Unemployment remains high and it?s hard to be too positive about the country?s economic future.

However, information technology is a growing field and professionals with training in computers and technology continue to be highly sought after, which makes many IT specialist rare in their optimism about the future.

According to the information technology staffing company Modis, 89 percent of information technology professionals are happy in their current jobs and 64 percent say that want to stay at their current job, a percentage that is much higher than the national average.

Also, 44 percent of all information technology professionals said they expect a raise next year and only 25 percent believe they will see no change in their pay over the next 12 months.

?These results are consistent with what we are seeing and hearing on a day to day basis at Modis,? Jack Cullen, president of Modis, said in a release about the survey. ?IT professionals are generally happy in their current roles and are cautiously optimistic about what 2012 may bring.?

The survey also found that cloud computing, software services, technology security and mobile solutions are expected to be some of the fastest growing areas of the information technology industry over the next several years. It will be important for information technology professionals to have training in these areas as companies are looking for workers that understand these basics and can continue to grow.

Cullen said the survey reveals a bright future for the information technology sector, but also encouraged professionals to continue to seek additional training in an effort to keep up with changing technology.

?(Information technology) shouldn?t get complacent in their careers,? Cullen said. ?One of the most critical factors to IT career success is not just gaining new technical skills, but also gaining domain knowledge ? a deep understanding of the specific business environment you work in, be it in financial services, health care or energy.?

Students of the Career Technical Institute?s program in information technology and computer training certification program can specialize in a variety of areas within the information technology field. By receiving professional training and experience, students have a much higher success rate at securing a job in this growing career field.

Information technology professionals have a high satisfaction with their career because they are doing what they love and are in high demand by companies all across the county. Companies are desperate to find professionals in the information technology field that can help them stay up to date on the latest technological tools and programs.
