SALISBURY, N.C. -- A man wanted for the murders of three people in San Francisco was arrested in Rowan County Monday morning.
Police were notified by ICE agents that known MS-13 gang member Wilfredo Reyes, 31, was at a house on Airport Road in Salisbury, and that Reyes was wanted for the 2008 murders in California.
As officers approached the house Monday, Reyes tried to escape out of a window and flee but was stopped by detectives.
In addition to being charged with the murders, Reyes was also charged with being a Fugitive from Justice.
Detectives also arrested Jose Antonio Mejia, 25, and charged him with harboring a fugitive and possession of cocaine. ICE also placed a detainer on him. According to police, Mejia is an undocumented citizen from El Salvador and also a known MS-13 gang member.
Both men are being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond. Wilfredo Reyes is awaiting extradition to California.
