Settlement with man who drowned saving family

The city of South Haven has reached a settlement with the family of a Chicago man who drowned back in 2009, after saving five family members from rough waters.

The Herald Palladiuum reports the city has agreed to install 911 automatic call boxes at city beaches and pay the family of Martin Jordan an undetermined amount of money. They'll also erect a memorial on south beach in his honor.

The 45-year-old drowned back in August of 2009, after rescuing his son, three nieces and a nephew.

The city attorney is still working out the final details, and it could take weeks for all parties to approve the settlement.
